Introducing fzf: The World of Fuzzy Search

From thousands of history lines, fuzzy search narrows down to the one you want in an instant
From thousands of history lines, fuzzy search narrows down to the one you want in an instant

Ctrl+R incremental search is useful, but once your history grows to thousands of lines, finding the right command gets harder. A tool called fzf was born to solve this. Its fuzzy search narrows the list from just a few letters picked out of the name you want.

fzf is not just for history search. It can be used for file selection, git branch switching, and more. Add one line to your shell config, and Ctrl+R becomes the fzf version.

"When standard features aren't enough, someone has already built a tool for it": that's the open source world. Terminal productivity tools are constantly evolving. Mastering the built-in features is the foundation for taking advantage of these tools.
