Add, then commit. Why two steps?

"Why can't I just save everything at once?" If you've wondered that, you're not alone. Honestly, the two-step process feels tedious at first. But there's a good reason for it.

In practice, you might change ten files but only want to include three in your commit. With add, you choose what to record. With commit, you confirm it. This "select, then confirm" flow gives you the power to organize your history into meaningful chunks.

The more you use Git, the more you'll appreciate these two steps.
